4  Report from the Chairman of the Executive Committee – Peter Wills

Once again, this year’s Chairman’s report is tinged with sadness, as one of our committee members, Steve Taylor, died suddenly in February. Steve had been a very active member of the committee for many years and will be greatly missed by everybody who ever had contact with him. My abiding memory of Steve was at one of our evening meetings, organised as a debate. He’d agreed to propose the motion of the evening, but at the last minute, one of the other side dropped out , so Steve changed over for the evening and happily opposed the motion

We have continued with our policy of seeking commercial sponsorship for our events and this has been coordinated by Rebecca Cole. We now have 6 sponsors, all of whom have a regular presence on our website and via the marketing at all of our conferences. Our sponsors are Askia, Data Expert, Gide, Merlinco, Nebu and Snap Surveys. We very much value their contribution and thank them for their continued support.

In the last 12 months, we have added 2 new committee members to our team – John McConnell and Matt Gibbs. Both John and Matt have wholeheartedly thrown themselves into the work of the committee and are heavily involved in today’s conference and also the ASC’s new look-and-feel website.

With the retirement of Keith Hughes, the ASC has now agreed to take a more active role with Triple-S and will work closely with the Triple-S team. We plan to merge the Triple-S website into the new look ASC website.

I would like to thank all the members of the committee, all of whom have very busy lives but still give their time freely to help with the running of the ASC. Behind the scenes, Christine Jenkins works tirelessly as our administrator and ensures the very smooth operation of the committee.

5  Treasurer’s Report and Presentation of the Annual Accounts – Peter Wills (for Raz Khan)

The Chairman reported that the organisation is in good shape financially, with the sponsorship income providing a good balanced income for the year.
