The nomination period closes. All entries for the award (on the award entry form) and the £250 fee per entry must have been sent to the ASC by this date. |

During this period, the judging panel will consider all entries with the aim of selecting a short list of three or four entries for the award, on the basis of the written submissions alone. |
| 22nd September |
Short-listed nominations will be announced at the ASC International Conference in Bristol. |
| 12th December |
The winner is announced at the MRS Research Awards held in London on the evening of the 12th December 2011 |
