Welcome to the ASC Software Register on the Web.
The buttons in the header will take you to the various sections of the
register.
For many years the ASC has produced a register of software of interest to members - after the tenth time of producing a new paper edition we decided that the future for the register lay on the web. We still produce regular printable versions, which are distributed to ASC members and are available for sale - the 2006 version is available (see the publications page, where you can read the preface) - but the web pages are the primary medium for the register, with more facilities and with continual updating of the information.
This version of the register on the web is driven from an underlying database, so is frequently updated - there are currently 245 Package entries, and the last update was on 16 May 2008. Packages and Organisations with Recent Changes are listed, as are Recent Additions. You can also Search for packages based on the content of their entries.
Entries and Updates
If you are a software developer or supplier and wish to submit
a new package or revise
existing information, please go to the New Entry page
(which is also used for updates). If you are a
user and your favourite packages do not appear in the register
(or are out of date), then please contact your
suppliers and ask them to submit information. If you have any
other suggestions for further additions
or improvements to these pages, please send a message to the
Register Manager.
Dead Entries
We generally
remove entries when they are more than four years old (and have not been
updated or confirmed). Those entries
in the Software Register for which the last contact or update was before
January 2002 were withdrawn from the register
in December 2005.
Printed Copies
A PDF version is
produced in January each year, and all ASC
members receive a copy. Additional copies can be obtained from the ASC Administrator (sales (a) asc.org.uk). An order form
is available at our publications page.
Links to other software lists on the web can be found on our links page.
