Getting the Message Across
Automating and communicating survey results

The next ASC one-day conference will be held on Friday 3rd October 2008 on the topic of delivering survey results. There have been new developments in this area during the past several years and there have been changes made to existing techniques. The Internet continues to provide opportunities for direct communication with end users of data. Indeed, users are continuously becoming more sophisticated in their use of technology and are demanding, rightly, that data suppliers provide innovative and reliable solutions.

ASC Awards and Prizes

This international award, first presented in 2003, is organised annually by the ASC in association with the MRS. It is awarded for outstanding innovation in the application of software or technology to market, opinion and social research in achieving greater effectiveness in research. The award aims to bring deserved prominence and greater recognition to those whose excellence in the application of technology is making an outstanding contribution to research effectiveness. Entry to the award is free and is open to anyone developing survey or statistical software or other technology specifically for market research, opinion research or social research.

Entries for 2008 are invited now, and a short list of award finalists will be announced in October. The award is presented at the annual MRS Research Awards event, this year in December. Click here for further details, including the Entry Pack.

How the ASC works, how to join, and our publications

Software Register
ISSN: 1475-8024
An online, classified and searchable listing of more than 200 software packages with attributes and suppliers. Updates are frequent, and a simple search facility can be used to identify packages with specific attributes

A printable edition is produced at the beginning of each year - members receive a free copy.

If your favourite package is not listed or is out of date - then contact your suppliers and ask them why? Updates to the web site are continuous, so suppliers should check that any existing entries for which they are responsible are up to date. New Entries and Updates can be made from here.

Requests and reminders for updates or confirmation are e-mailed in November to all the organisations active in the Register (except those who have been in touch in the last few months), but, with changes in personnel and spam filtering, not all messages get through. If you are a supplier and have not had such a message, please check your entry and let us know of any changes in contact details.
