Warwick University is an ideal conference location, being situated in the heart of England. One of Britain’s newer universities, Warwick is based on a large and pleasant campus, just to the south of the City of Coventry and close to the historic towns of Warwick, Kenilworth, Royal Leamington Spa and Stratford-upon-Avon. All Conference sessions and the Conference Exhibition, together with breakfasts, lunches and tea/coffee will be close together within the Central Campus, using the Arts Centre and Humanities complex.
Registration will begin at 5pm on Wednesday 17th September, and will be in the Rootes Building, which is building 29 on the Central Campus Map.
Getting to Warwick University is easy from all parts of the UK and from further afield. It is convenient for the motorway network (M1, M5, M6, M40). Rail access is easy from all parts of Britain, via Birmingham, Coventry and Leamington. For those travelling by air within the UK or from abroad, London Heathrow or Birmingham airports provide good links.
Maps of the local area and the campus can be found on the Warwick University web.
Accommodation for Conference delegates will be in residential blocks located around the University’s Central Campus and within easy walking distance of the main Conference areas. Accommodation will mostly be in single rooms with private facilities, though a small number of double en-suite rooms may also be available. Breakfast will be taken in the Rootes Restaurant adjacent to the main Conference areas.
For those wishing to make independent arrangements, a variety of accommodation may be found either in the City of Coventry or the nearby towns of Kenilworth, Warwick or Royal Leamington Spa. However, the ASC is unable to make such arrangements on behalf of delegates.
The ASC will be organising a number of social events in conjunction with the International Conference. On the first evening there will be a reception for delegates, followed by the Conference Dinner. The second evening event will offer a buffet dinner and opportunities for other entertainments.
Delegates, particularly those from abroad, may wish to combine attendance at the Conference with a few days enjoying the attractions of this part of central England in the late summer. As well as its rich countryside it can offer castles (notably Kenilworth, the largest and finest castle ruin in England, and Warwick with its 60 acres of ground and gardens) and stately homes. Royal Leamington Spa offers Regency architecture and gracious streets. Coventry has its splendid modern Cathedral and an interesting city centre. Stratford-upon-Avon, only a few miles away, has its famous theatre (why not fit in a play as part of an extended visit) and the nearby Warwickshire villages, all closely associated with William Shakespeare.
