The importance of the Internet to Survey Research is being increasingly recognised, and its impact extends from data capture through to dissemination. Many conferences and meetings (by ASC and others) have discussed the impact of the Internet, and we hear both enthusiasm and cautionary voices. In consequence, the 2nd ASC International Conference on Survey Research Methods addressed 'the Challenge of the Internet'.
These conferences aim to have more depth and be more focussed than 1-day meetings or the larger ASC international conferences. They are residential, giving much greater opportunity for interaction and discussion between participants and presenters. This conference followed the pattern of the successful conference held at Chilworth in August 1998. As on that occasion we joined forces with three other organisations in building the programme.
| The conference consisted of four half-day sessions (listed below), each with a specific theme, an invited keynote speaker and three contributed papers (no parallel sessions). Topics and papers in the programme (with abstracts) are detailed separately. The proceedings are available for purchase, both on paper and on CD, and copies of the presentations can be viewed from the programme page. | Sessions | |

The conference was residential and was held at the Latimer Conference Centre, in the Chiltern Hills, just outside London. Just over 100 people attended the conference, and some photographs from the event are available (view pictures, 1Mb). You can read a review of the conference from the MRS Research site (though you may have to register to get access). |
