ASC/MRS Technology Social Evenings
These social evenings are a relatively new concept for ASC, started in 2006. We run these events every few months and they are free to ASC members, MRS members and those who work at MRS Company Partner organisations. The objective is to provide a short briefing on a technology topic of interest, followed by an opportunity to socialise with your friends and colleagues in the industry. We provide bar snacks and the first two drinks, paid for by the ASC, although we have the venue for the whole evening if you want to stay on.

If you are not an ASC member you may attend the first meeting at no charge, but will need to be a member to attend future events - you can take out membership during the meeting. Please bear in mind that some companies take out corporate membership so you may already be an unwitting member. If you have any doubts please contact the ASC administrator.
This event will be a discussion and debate about Open Source Software. It will be held at The Old Doctor Butler's Head, 2 Mason's Avenue, City of London, EC2V 5BT. Further details will appear here shortly.
Further dates will be announced here when they are fixed.
Tuesday 19th February, 2008: 'Winter Warmer' Quiz Night
This event returned to the popular ‘Question Time’ format.
This was a Quiz Evening. The quiz consisted of a number of rounds, all with some sort of technology twist.
This event featured Research Reporter, the winner of the 2006 ASC/MRS Technology Award.
Wednesday 14th March, 2007: Question Time
This time we will be having a "Question Time" format with a panel of people representing the research industry who will respond to questions about survey computing posed by the audience. We hope this will prove an entertaining and informative event.
Tuesday 16th January 2007: Debate
This house deplores the rise of DIY research software that has the potential to damage the professional market research industry
Proposed by Greg Smith, Ipsos MORI and opposed by Peter Wills, founder and CEO of Snap Surveys.
Thursday 14th September 2006: On bicycles and bulldozers: freewheeling to success with technology-led change, presented by Tim Macer
Thursday 8th June 2006: Pulse Train present their Bellview Fusion software, which won the 2005 ASC/MRS Technology award.
Places are strictly limited due to the size of the venue and you must reserve your place in advance by e-mailing Sue Taylor.
Since their onset, these meetings have been held at the Grouse and Claret Pub, 14-15 Little Chester Street, Belgravia SW1X 7AP. This venue has now been closed for redevelopment. We are seeking a permanent replacement, for which suggestions would be welcome, but in the mean time, please check carefully for the venue for each meeting.
