ASC/MRS Technology Social Evening
Tuesday 23rd
September 2008
at the
The Old Doctor Butler's Head
(2 Mason's Avenue, City of London, EC2V 5BT, just off
Moorgate)
We would like to invite all ASC members to our next evening social meeting on Tuesday 23rd September. We run these events every few months and they are free to ASC & MRS members. The objective is to provide a short briefing or discussion on a technology topic of interest, followed by an opportunity to socialise with your friends and colleagues in the industry. We provide a hot food buffet and the first two drinks, paid for by the ASC, and then drinks can be bought at the bar.
This event will be a discussion on the role of 'Open-Source Software' in our field. Come along and argue with your industry peers in the welcoming surrounding of this central London public house.
We will start with a introductory talk about Open Source Software, followed by a discussion and debate about Open Source Software in a 'Question Time' format with a panel of 4 informed members plus a chairman.
This event is now also supported by the British Computer Society Open Source Software Group (BCS OSSG). Two members of the group will be on the panel to answer more general questions about OS software. They will also deliver a short introduction to the issues of Open Source Software at the beginning of the meeting.
The event is open to ASC members, MRS members and those who work at MRS Company Partner organisations. If you do not fall into one of these categories you may attend the first meeting at no charge, but will need to satisfy our membership requirements to attend future events - it is possible to join the ASC at the meeting. If you have any doubts please contact the ASC administrator.
