We would like to invite all ASC members to our first evening social meeting on Thursday 8 June. We plan to run these events quarterly and they will be free to ASC members. The objective is to provide a short briefing on a technology topic of interest, followed by an opportunity to socialise with your friends and colleagues in the industry. We will provide bar snacks and drinks, paid for by the ASC until 8.30pm, although we will have the venue for the whole evening if you want to stay on.
At this meeting we have invited Pulse Train to present their Bellview Fusion software, which won the 2005 ASC/MRS Technology award. This is what the judges had to say about this mixed-mode interviewing system:
Bellview Fusion provides a modern, hybrid CATI and web survey data collection platform which has been completely rewritten using database and Internet technologies. It is a work of massive scale, and includes a number of ingenious facilities which are remarkable for their simplicity, despite their underlying complexity. These include the concept of multiple hierarchies through child interviews, interview snowballing and an innovative, simplified approach to building complex call handling strategies in a mixed-mode context. The case study provided, at NORC in the USA, revealed that the system had coped flawlessly with what is arguably one of the most complex CATI/web surveys ever undertaken. The system helped achieve high response rates, reduced administrative burden and also helped to reduce the burden on respondents in a number of ways.
We are sure you will find this demonstration extremely interesting, and a useful introduction to the challenges of mixed-mode interviewing; there will be a chance to ask questions at the end.
Places are strictly limited due to the size of the venue and you must reserve your place in advance by e-mailing Sue Taylor.
If you are not an ASC member you may attend the first meeting at no charge, but will need to be a member to attend future events. The cost of membership is £30 per year. Please bear in mind that some companies take out corporate membership so you may already be an unwitting member. If you have any doubts please contact the ASC administrator.
